Welcome to the Dolphins Swim Team!
The Dolphins have provided a physical fitness and friendly competitive sporting environment for the children of Aquia Harbour since 1974. Swimming not only helps condition your children physically, but provides an excellent opportunity for growth in social skills, teamwork, teaches good sportsmanship, and is an exceptional safeguard for children as those with strong swimming skills are less likely to be endangered when near water sources. All great reasons to be part of the Dolphins’ Family!
Swimmers age 4-18 are eligible to swim. The league uses their age on June 1 for eligibility.
Being a Swim Parent
The most important thing you can do as the parent of a swimmer is to love and support your child, both in and out of the pool. This support is a key factor in fostering enjoyment and learning as well as contributing to the child's individual success in the pool.
Family Obligation
Summer swim is a significant commitment. The team can’t function without the help of parent volunteers. There are approximately 80 positions to fill in a home meet. Each family is required to volunteer at each meet. Families with developmental swimmers only that are not competing are required to sign up for 2 home meets. There are a wide variety of positions and activities that a parent can help out with. Some of these positions require training and others do not. It is quite difficult for us to staff the positions that require training, so each family is required to have at least one person complete an RSL certification course (unless already certified by USA Swimming or VHSL). Please volunteer for one of these positions as the training is online and FREE.
