Swimmers are expected to arrive 15 minutes early * Stretching begins ten minutes prior to practice start times * Stretching is considered the start of practice for attendance purposes.
8 a.m. - 13 & Older
9 a.m. - 11-12
10 a.m. - 9-10
11 a.m. - 8 & Under
Developmental Schedule
8 & Under Developmental will be split into two groups alphabetically, the lessons are identical. This enables the staff to provide more effective lessons.
10:00 a.m. - A-M
11:00 a.m. - N-Z
Developmental 9 & Older will come at their respective group times and will have a designated practice focused on the fundamentals of swimming.
Practice Info
For the summer’s morning training sessions, how will I know what time my child will train?
Practices are primarily broken down by age group. If the coaching staff determines a swimmer is better suited for an adjustment in age group, they will speak to the swimmer and parents and explain their reasoning. At the beginning of each season, it takes approximately a week to assess all of our swimmers’ abilities and place them in the most appropriate group. We know this makes it tricky for parents who are trying to balance jobs, nannies, and such, but it ultimately benefits your child by ensuring they are in a comparable group for enhancing their swimming skills.
As much as it is possible, please ensure your children use the restroom prior to coming to the pool. ALL children 8 and under will need to be accompanied to the restroom by a parent/guardian.
Coaches cannot serve as a restroom chaperone.
Recommended gear for practices:
- Shoes and shorts for dry land exercise; when the water is cold or it is drizzling outside the swimmers may do this instead. Please do not skip practice due to weather unless the coach has canceled. Dryland practice is aimed at physical conditioning and team building.
- Goggles, swim cap, and one-piece bathing suit. Please don’t wear team suit to practice.
- Water bottle and towel
Practice Policies
- Parents should not interrupt the coaches during team practice and meets. For safety and instructional reasons, the coaches’ attention must be focused on the swimmers. If you feel it necessary to contact the coaches, please wait until after practice or email the coach through the team website. Alternately, you may also address your questions to a Swim Team Board member who will then relay your concerns to the Coach.
- There is no open swim during practice hours. All parents and siblings not involved with the team must stay out of and away from the pool.
- All swimmers are expected to attend as many practices as possible. Please tell the Head Coach if you are practicing with another team.
- Each swimmer is expected to be on time and ready to hit the water!
- Parents may not leave children under the age of 12 unsupervised at the pool.
- Children under age 12 require a parent/guardian of at least 16 years of age to be on the pool deck.
- When weather conditions are poor, the practice may terminate early, and parents must be prepared to pick up their children early. Many families do share transportation tasks by taking each other’s children to and from practice, so let other parents know your needs and maybe you can work something out. The coaching staff cannot function as childcare providers as they must focus on the children who are in the water.
- Swimmers and parents are expected to behave in a courteous, non-disruptive manner in and around the pool, locker room, and at swim meets. Discourteous or unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.
